New Year’s Eve Service will be at 6:00 PM
Pastor Schmidt will be our preacher and liturgist.
We will be having a New Year’s Eve theme.
New Year’s Day Service will be at 10:00 AM
Rev. Jeremy Davis, an Army chaplain and LCMS ordained clergy,
will be our preacher on Sunday morning.
The theme for this service is the Name and Circumcision of Jesus.
Holy Communion will be celebrated at both services.
Christmas Services 2016
4:00 PM – Happy Birthday Jesus Service
This service is for God’s children of all ages. It includes balloons, flameless candles, favorite Christmas Carols, a Christmas story for the sermon, and a birthday cake.
After the service in the Fellowship Hall, we will have a living nativity with a petting zoo. Snacks will be available. Balloons and good bags will be passed out.
7:30 PM – A Traditional Christmas Service.
This service features lessons and carols. Flameless candles will also be used.
10:00 PM – Candlelight Christmas Eve
This candleight service is led by our youth.
10:00 AM – The Nativity of our Lord
This service will include Holy Communion. Our preacher for this service with be Rev. Jeremy Davis.
We will be Christmas Caroling on Sunday, December 11.
We will meet at church at 3:45 PM. Song sheets will be distributed, and instructions will be given to where we are going.
We will visit our St. Luke’s members who are in the nursing homes in Manhattan as well as some of our members who in their homes throughout Manhattan.
Our night will conclude with a no-host dinner at Little Apple Brewery. We will meet at the restaurant 6:30 PM.
The Circuit Reformation Service will be on Sunday, October 30, 2016, at 2:00 PM, at St. John Lutheran Church, 218 W. 2nd Street, Alma, KS.
The Preacher will be Rev. Dr. Cameron MacKenzie, professor at Concordia Theological Seminary in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Following the service and a short break, Rev. Dr. MacKenzie will give a presentation on the biblical doctrine of the two kingdoms – the kingdom of God and the kingdom of government – in which we live and the Christian’s responsibility in both.
Dr. MacKenzie is chairman of the Department of Historical Theology at the Ft. Wayne seminary. University of Notre Dame. Dr. MacKenzie currently holds the Forrest E. and Frances H. Ellis Chair in German Reformation Studies.
This is our circuit’s ‘kick-off’ event for the 500th anniversary of the Reformation celebration next year (2017). Our circuit’s goal for this celebration is “Celebration, Outreach and Education”. It is our desire that members of our congregations will bring unchurched friends and family members to these events.

Afer the presentation, the Lutheran Laymen’s League (LLL) will gather for a rally.
This parenting class, headed up by Anita Hinkle, will be filled with tips and advice for handling children.
This class will be on Wednesdays at 6:15-7:45 PM, beginning October 5 in the Fellowship Hall.
